Hey guys! So confession time…I’ve been a bad blogger lately. I haven’t been regularly updating my blog with fresh posts and honestly it’s just because I’ve been lazy/too focused on IG. But I’ve committed (to myself) to uploaded a new post every Monday for you all! They will be focused on fashion trends, what I’m buying, products for sensitive skin, how to style chunky dad sneaks, etc. If there is anything specific you would like me to cover, please comment on this post, DM me on Insta, email, or whatever you have to do to get my attention.
Okay, so now that I’ve come clean to you guys it’s time to talk NYFW!!! *cue Frank Sinatra’s New York, New York* First of all, attending NYFW as always been a major dream of mine. When I was going to college in NYC I volunteered at a few shows by helping backstage/front of house, but always wanted to be the one actually watching the shows. And 3 years later, I was able to experience one of my dreams become reality! Honestly, it was amazing but also exhausting af. I now understand why the more seasoned fashion goers don’t go to every show and are super selective. Everything happens to fast and you have to wait around foreverrrr.
The reality of these shows is the production team gets to the venue 5+ hours before to set up for a show that lasts maybe 10 minutes. It’s absolutely crazy the amount of work that goes into the set up, but I guess that’s just like anything. Also the shows almost NEVER and I mean neverrr starts on time. If the show says it’ starts at 2pm, you better believe the lights aren’t dimming until 2:30ish. So be prepared to wait around..a lottt. Like an hour.
But the actual experience of being in the audience when the lights dim and the first model walks out showcasing the collection the designer put their blood, sweat, and tears in is worth it. The whole creative process that goes into creating these beautiful collections is beyond me and I’m so grateful I got to see the final product. After my first show, I picked up on some tips that I wish I would’ve known, but will be remembering for next season:
All in all I attended 5 shows even though I got invited to 12 shows total. I had little time in between shows to shoot outfits (I had 23 outfits..lol) and also wanted to enjoy some time with my friends who live in NYC. But for my first time, going to 5 shows, shooting 20 outfits and still having time to hangout with my friends and enjoy some cute brunches — I count that as pretty successful trip! Some of you wanted me to make a vlog of the trip, but honestly things were soo crazy I just didn’t have the chance. But next season (this coming February), I promise will for you guys! 🙂 x
